Heading out shortly to visit the ancestral homeland of Suffolk County, Long Island... home of classic rock radio and the really funny Christmas jingles and ditties I really do miss.

God I love the Cheech & Chong. Does it get more seasonal than "Santa Claus and His Old Lady"?

I'm a huge Rocket fan. This hasn't changed.

God, Pollina and I did this GENERATION X HOLIDAY SPECIAL (Or, as Bill O'Reilly would characterize -- our "War on Christmas Special") back in 1998. I still remember the look on Marvel editorial's faces when I pitched them the idea that, in the Marvel Universe, Santa didn't only exist... he was also a mutant.

Fun memories...

64 years old. We should all be half as happy and a fraction as strong the year before we qualify for Social Security. This guy's going to play stadiums until he's dead and in the ground... what've you done with your life?

Whatever Keith Richards took, takes or will take... I say keep it coming. Incredible.

Peter Jackson is back on board to executive produce THE HOBBIT for New Line, along with some nebulous 'sequel' apparently...

Should it concern me, you or anyone else that the studio which already produced the actual sequels to THE HOBBIT has now envisioned a make-believe one that doesn't exist?

The sales and critical response to THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY were great. Fox Atomic Comics and publisher Harper Collins loved the book. As did, I understand, the great Thomas Ligotti upon whose brilliantly disturbing horror writings the book was based.

Announcements to come re: what's next. Stay tuned!

Well what do you know...

The AMPTP launched their own site, here... but apparently did not go the extra mile and spend the extra fifty bucks at godaddy to secure all the domain extensions. God, you'd think they'd at least spring for the dot-fucking-com!!

Behold the AMPTP.com site!

You know... I'm starting to think these people in charge really don't have a clue as to how this whole internet thing works.

The Hammer of the Gods fell on London last night. Hopefully a tour of some sort will follow. The greatest motherfucking band the world has ever known sounded pretty damn good in this UK TV segment:

The set list included rarities and rave reviews... can't wait for a chance to see this! Just keep the fucking hipsters away. Led Zeppelin, while brilliant, should be dutifully sequestered from the ironically inclined.

You know... labor strife has really gotten to me lately. My faith has been tested. Working in Hollywood can be a maddening, insecure affair under the best of circumstances. The way things have gone the past couple of months, it had been hard to find much joy in it all.

When what do you know...

Something wholly and completely wonderful like this shows up and reminds me of why I try so damn hard to carve something out of my own out in this magical business of ours.

God, I love movies... big, beautiful Hollywood-made movies screened in beautiful theaters for big crowds. The sort Drew Struzan paints the posters for. The kind my dad took me to see. The kind I hope we see a lot more of, if we ever get back to work...

Talks broke down again yesterday. Unrest everywhere you look. I feel awful for everyone who's out of work (myself included)... both in the guild, and 'below the line'. Lots of people are going to lose their homes, their cars, their hard-earned piece of the pie... but let's keep things straight here...

The WGA is on strike because the producers, studios and other shark-like, emotionless threshing machines DO NOT WANT TO SHARE their windfall profits with those who author the material they sell... and re-sell... over and over and over.

We can't, and won't, go back to work until we get what's fair... we have too much at stake and to settle for less than we're entitled to would be catastrophic in the long-term. The AMPTP is keeping this strike going by refusing to negotiate in good faith and with fairness in mind. To blame the writers is ludicrous. I'm hopeful we can keep the public opinion on our side... but, frankly, it doesn't matter to me anymore. This is becoming a war of attrition. And I want to win because I know what I'm fighting for is right.

In the meantime... more cute videos from the striking comedy writers. This one's from THE COLBERT REPORT guys:

Better settle in for a long, cold winter...

We're in it now. The companies are hoping to divide us. They're trying to test our solidarity, offering a so-called 'deal' that's far, far away from what we want or deserve. I say it's just as far away from what we'll settle for.

Time will tell.
